One of the most challenging aspects of finalizing a flood insurance claim is managing the contents segment of the claim. As adjusters, our primary focus is typically on the structural part of the claim, relying on policyholders to supply the necessary information for the contents section. This can be a daunting task for many policyholders, particularly during an already stressful period.
We request that policyholders take comprehensive photos of the damaged items and complete contents sheets. Oftentimes, these photos are captured using a smartphone, digital camera, or film camera. Once taken, organizing these images from various devices into a single file and communicating them to the adjuster can pose difficulties.
Cellphone images are usually sizable files, limiting the number that can be sent via email at one time. Consequently, emailing isn't always a feasible option when there are multiple pictures involved. Some adjusters utilize file-sharing platforms to enable policyholders to share their photos effectively; however, consolidating images from various sources remains a necessity for the insured.
For certain individuals, particularly those not well-versed in technology, this process can be overwhelming and frustrating. It adds strain and anxiety to an already burdened policyholder. Subsequently, after documenting all their photographs, policyholders encounter another challenge: completing the contents list.
One common practice is penning down the list by hand, resulting in additional effort for adjusters who must then convert it into an estimate. This method significantly prolongs the claim completion timeline, emphasizing the importance of efficiency in this process.
Currently, one of the most effective ways to obtain the contents list from policyholders is by providing them with an Excel spreadsheet formatted for seamless integration into adjusters' estimating software. However, limitations may arise; some insured individuals may lack Excel on their devices or struggle with its usage, complicating this route.
Contents Buddy simplifies this process by allowing policyholders to collate and categorize all their photos in one central location before submitting them to adjusters. It generates an Excel spreadsheet compatible with estimating software and a printable photo report, streamlining the process and alleviating stress for both parties.
Developed by an adjuster to streamline and expedite the contents claim segment, Contents Buddy offers a user-friendly solution for adjusters and policyholders alike. The app caters to individuals comfortable with basic smartphone operations, enabling them to begin documenting their losses promptly after initial contact with their adjuster.
With Contents Buddy, policyholders can effortlessly create their contents list using their smartphones or opt to sync photos to the cloud for labeling via the Contents Buddy website with a full-sized keyboard. Upon completion, adjusters receive notifications for review and amendments before exporting an Excel spreadsheet and photo report through Contents Buddy for inclusion in the claim file.
